📝 Overview
The Afterlife is the premiere edgerunner bar in Night City — built in the remains of an old mortuary on the outskirts of the Hot Zone, and run by the legendary Solo turned Fixer, Rogue. Every Solo in the city dreams of getting a drink at the Afterlife named after them — even if it only happens post-mortem.
No one gets through the door until they’ve proved themselves worthy. Unproven edgerunners are turned away; Rogue vets new talent at The Forlorn Hope instead. If she sends you to the Afterlife, you’ve arrived.
🏛️ The Bar
The Afterlife has a loud, nightclub atmosphere — nothing like the quiet neighborhood vibes of the Forlorn Hope. The converted morgue’s industrial bones show through: metal walls, cold lighting, and the faint suggestion that someone used to keep bodies where you’re standing. It adds to the mystique.
Solos meander through the crowd before taking a seat at the bar to wait for an open contract or a ping from their favorite Fixer. With the mayhem running rampant on the Street, they’re never waiting long. Rogue leans against the bar, surveying the room — everything that happens inside is under her eye.
On any Friday night, you’re bound to see someone wearing a Street Viper Riding Suit and at least three people arguing about whose chrome is shinier.
🥃 Drinks Named After Legends
The Afterlife’s signature tradition: cocktails named after edgerunners who went out in a blaze of glory. Getting a drink named after you is the ultimate edgerunner legacy — even if you have to die to earn it.
| Drink | Named After | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Johnny Silverhand | Johnny Silverhand | Available on the menu |
| Morgan Blackhand | Morgan Blackhand | Oddly, not available — no one knows why |
| David Martinez | David Martinez | Added after the Arasaka Tower incident |
🎲 Activities
Beyond drinking and deal-making, the Afterlife hosts a gambling ring. Bookies take bets on edgerunner outcomes — which crew will take out a threat, which will buy the farm. Minimum bet 100eb, maximum 500eb. The odds shift in real-time as crews accept gigs and survivors (or bodies) roll in.
📜 History
The building originally served as a morgue. After the 4th Corporate War and the nuclear destruction of Arasaka Tower in 2023, the surrounding area became wasteland. Rogue — transitioning from her Solo career to Fixer work after a career-ending car crash — took over the abandoned space and transformed it into the mercenary hub it is today.
By the 2040s, the Afterlife had become the undisputed center of Night City’s edgerunner economy. The highest-profile gigs are brokered here, and the Fixers who hold court inside control the top end of the merc market.
